Kevin D. Batt , Counsel
Kevin Batt joined Anderson & Kreiger LLP in 2006, after seven years practicing municipal, land use, environmental and construction law at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP. A former conservation manager for the city of Austin, Texas, where he managed energy and environmental programs for the city's municipal electric utility, Kevin combines first-hand knowledge of municipal issues with extensive experience providing services to his municipal clients. He has represented public and private-sector clients in cases involving preservation of open space and conservation land, coastal access rights, zoning disputes, property contamination by hazardous materials, property tax, landlord-tenant and condominium disputes, construction claims and bid protests, and routine contract matters. After ranking first in his class at Boston University Law School and before entering private practice, Mr. Batt clerked for the Honorable Margaret H. Marshall in the 1997-1998 term of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
Kevin has represented the Towns of Concord, Lexington, Acton, Sherborn and Dover in providing general counsel services and in numerous construction, land use and other matters. He has submitted appellate briefs to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Appeals Court, on issues including the regulation of beach-access rights under the common law public trust doctrine, Boston’s regulation of taxi cab licenses, and same-sex marriage and civil unions. Kevin also represented a major investor-owned utility applying for approval of its restructuring plan as part of the deregulation of electric utilities.
