From major building projects to innovative green energy projects, A&K’s environmental team knows how to secure timely and workable permits. Our environmental permitting experience includes:
- We routinely represent National Grid in environmental permitting matters in New England. We have helped Grid obtain essential federal and state permits for major, time-sensitive energy projects, including a 32-mile transmission line in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
- We are leaders in helping developers of solar photovoltaic systems. Working with a variety of clients, we have developed efficient procurement procedures, taken advantage of tax credits and negotiated power purchase agreements and land leases. Our attorneys frequently write and present on solar’s fast-changing regulatory landscape.
- Texas-based Excelerate Energy retains A&K to handle environmental permitting and compliance for its liquid natural gas (LNG) port in Massachusetts – one of only twelve in the United States. We helped Excelerate obtain over 20 federal, state and local permits and regularly advise it on how to most efficiently comply with federal and state requirements.
- When the EPA proposed a national effluent limitation guideline for airplane deicing fluid, we worked with environmental consultants to draft extensive comments critiquing the proposal for Massport. We successfully argued that the proposed guidelines were impracticable for land-constrained airports like Logan Airport. The EPA withdrew the proposed guideline.
