Litigation

Anderson & Kreiger’s trial lawyers are nationally-recognized for handling complex commercial, environmental, regulatory and insurance litigation for public sector and private clients. A&K litigators represent companies of all sizes, individuals, state agencies, local municipalities, and airports across the country.  We are respected by our clients for our experience, commitment, efficiency, and creativity; by our opponents, for our tenacity; and by the courts, for our integrity and forceful advocacy.

Our team handles a wide range of litigation and appeals with unique experience in highly regulated industries, such as:

  • Airports & Transportation
  • Construction
  • Energy & Utilities
  • Insurance
  • Civil & Criminal Government Enforcement Matters

We also often put our skills to work for pro bono clients who are seeking to protect the environment or civil rights and civil liberties.

Our Team

Anderson & Kreiger is home to an impressive team of trial attorneys.  A&K lawyers come from large and small law firms and include a former United States Attorney, several former Assistant United States Attorneys, a former Civil Chief in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston, a former interim Executive Director of Massport, a former General Counsel of the Massachusetts Port Authority, a former Chief of the Massachusetts Economic Crimes Unit at the Boston U.S. Attorney’s Office, a former Deputy Chief Legal Counsel to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Governor William Weld, as well as the former Chief Legal Counsel for Governor Charlie Baker. These diverse backgrounds help to inform our innovative legal strategies in every setting.

Our Results

A few examples of Anderson & Kreiger’s recent precedent-setting results include:

  • Successfully defending the Massachusetts Gaming Commission against challenges by several municipalities, citizens, and disappointed applicant, Mohegan Sun, to the Commission’s award of a casino license to Wynn Resorts, under Massachusetts’ new Expanded Gaming Act.
  • Defending a town’s right to use Community Preservation Act funds to preserve two historic churches, including prevailing at the trial court level and arguing at the Supreme Judicial Court, resulting in the creation of new law on the Anti-Aid Amendment.
  • Obtaining and successfully defending in the Supreme Judicial Court a preliminary injunction against the “peer to peer” rental car company Turo, Inc., from operating without authorization at Logan Airport.
  • Successfully defended the MBTA in a consumer class action regarding disruptions in commuter rail service during the historically bad winter of 2015.
